Energy Account Manager

Main Purpose of the Job

  • To achieve agreed personal and team sales targets.
  • To secure new business using the telephone to sell/market both gas and electricity in the SME & Mid-Market
  • To create opportunities and co-ordinate the sign up of clients contract
  • To promote and support the launch of new products and initiatives as required

Main Duties

  • Achievement of personal sales and performance targets – including high volume outbound cold calling
  • Contribute to overall company sales targets and objectives
  • Attending face to face meetings in addition to outbound calling potential customers within the SME and Mid-Market sectors
  • Management of new customer accounts after the contract start date
  • To ensure that loyalty amongst our customers is maintained to ensure future upsell and renewal opportunities
  • Promote and co-ordinate sales activity and secure client contracts
  • Contribute as required to the development of sales and marketing strategies
  • Active involvement in ongoing development
  • Effectively advise clients on GEC software, services and product offerings.
  • Negotiating and closing contracts.
  • Communicate and interact with business decision-makers at all levels to identify needs and requirements as well as market opportunities

Skills Knowledge and Experience

  • Preferably with a minimum of 2 years sales experience - ideally in a cold calling capacity
  • Industry background is preferred however not essential as full training will be provided
  • Telephone sales skills and experience
  • A creative ability coupled with excellent interpersonal skills to relate to customers at the appropriate level
  • Computer literate with an analytical mind
  • A flexible attitude to working hours to cope with peak work loads and customer requirements
  • The interpersonal skills necessary to develop business relationships
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to motivate others

Judgement & Decisions

  • Day to day responsibility for personal activity and development of allocated prospects
  • Contribute to the overall development of the Business to Business sales function

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Establish new business opportunities with targeted accounts through prospecting, networking, qualifying and closing techniques. 
  • Gaining an understanding of the area you will work in in order to generate your own pipeline through research of the key contacts in that area and marketing to and approaching them directly.
  • Prospecting and converting leads into profitable and ongoing business relationships
  • Understand customer long-term strategic business needs and increase level of contact– higher and wider – within customer’s organisation to allow for selling of new opportunities.
  • Effectively advise clients on GEC software, services and product offerings.
  • Negotiating and closing contracts.
  • Collaboration with colleagues, including sales, marketing and operations teams, on ways to continuously improve offerings and go to market strategies
  • Generate and follow up on leads by making contact with prospects and creating interest in GEC offerings
  • Communicate and interact with business decision-makers at all levels to identify needs and requirements as well as market opportunities
  • Lead and move prospects through the sales cycle
  • Negotiate and close recurring revenue sales that vary in contract length and fee range
  • Close an agreed upon number of sales and revenue per month
  • Maintain prospect database information
  • Professionally represent the company at all times

Essential skills, qualifications and requirements:

  • Experience selling professional services in the energy and sustainability industry, renewable energy industry, service industry, environmental industry, or to industrial and/or commercial clients; experience and knowledge from working within the energy, sustainability or environmental industry is a must.
  • Self-starter; able to rapidly comprehend client demands and GEC solutions, and to align the two to ensure sales performance at or above assigned levels.
  • A full driving license, with the rights to drive within the UK.
  • Proven track record of being successful in all elements of a consultative sales role;
    • Lead generation
    • Interfacing and presenting to all management levels.
    • Negotiating agreements with prospects
    • Effective closure rate with prospects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook)

Main Duties

 

  • Support our Account Managers with the pricing and contracts for our clients.
  • Maintain, build and strengthen professional relationships with colleagues,   suppliers and clients
  • Liaise with our external partners and clients
  • Tender and negotiate client supply contracts.
  • Ensure all data collected is accurate and sent to suppliers/clients correctly.
  • Create and manage various different spreadsheets and reports.
  • Contribute to overall company sales targets and objectives
  • Active involvement in ongoing development
  • Communicate and interact with business decision-makers at all levels to identify needs and requirements.

Skills Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Previous experience of working in an office environment
  • Experience of dealing with a number of ongoing tasks at once
  • Confident in using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
